Tri-C student Eric Burkhart displays work that was juried to be a part of this spring's Tri-C East student show.   Free:   a wheel chair that has been modified through welding and sculptured into a winged wheel chair redefines the possibilities of a wheel chair.   Hidden Planes, an exercise in geometric figures is created by layered matte board dividing the 10" x 10" plane into four quadrants of identical mazes.   Burkhart's work is thoughtful, skillfully executed and shows a depth that is often lacking in what are essentially academic exercises.

Notably his piece Hung an abstract sculpture comprised of metal lathe, plaster and rope was ultimately removed from the student show it was juried into.  Intending to depict death while being vague, resulted in it being censored from the show.  Overheard in the gallery, "Well I guess you just can't use a noose in art anymore."
