Square One work by Dan Tranberg

My first show at Jean’s was my first show in Cleveland. It was also the first show I had after
taking a hiatus from artmaking, during which time I went back to school to study art criticism.
I actually went a year and a half without having a studio. After a while, I craved making things.
These drawings were my way of getting back in the game. They were done on small sheets of paper that were stretched on rigid panels. Since I didn’t have a studio at the time, I did a
lot of them while sitting in bed, which is why I often refer to them as my “bed drawings.”
